Founded on November 16, 1993, the Taihe County Museum (Old Museum) serves as an important cultural venue for showcasing the history of Taihe.
The new museum building began construction in 2015 and opened to the public at the end of 2019. It is located in the cultural center on the north side of the intersection of Wenming West Road and Chuangyi Road in the county seat. With a total construction area of over 7,000 square meters, the exhibition area spans 2,500 square meters. The building is U-shaped, simple yet grand, with a symmetrical central axis that conveys a solemn and dignified atmosphere. The museum currently holds a collection of 1,502 cultural relics (sets).
The new museum features two main exhibits: the permanent exhibition The History of Taihe Civilization and a "Temporary Exhibition." The permanent exhibition adopts a chronological display approach and is divided into seven sections: "Ancient Homeland," "Warring States Period (475-221 BC) Convergence," "Famous Regions of Han and Wei," "Thousand-Year County," "Ming and Qing Dynastic Flow," "Republic of China Horns," and "Taihe Shitiao Street." These sections chronicle the rise and fall of culture in the Huaihe River Basin over thousands of years, highlighting the shifts in power and dynasties on China’s historical stage.
